Phone Interface

Hey Gamers, How's the Absurdium treating you?
I have a big list of "Features" I'm forcing myself to add before the next update! (i'll tell you more if we get over 50 follows?)

If there's a game breaking bug please email me & epicaracacyyt@outlook.com or use the in-game feedback button so I can try and fix it post haste

Today however I wanted to bring up my current challenge. The Phone User Interface! All the images i'm using are made by me as placeholders so I won't include pictures (it doesn't look great) but I'm implementing the interface!

As of this update the Phone can be brought up at any point during a dungeon crawl by holding "Spacebar" and is controlled with the arrow keys, you can also "click" or "select" buttons by clicking "Enter".
I wanted to talk about the design choice and maybe encourage some feedback right here in the log so start typing!

The reason that I have more buttons to click during play (and why you'll need 2 hands on the keyboard) is because the phone will be a huge asset in the Absurdium arsenal. It's the smoking gun that I wouldn't give you. This means that you need it to be available at all times during a chase sequence or a stealthy mission. This is why I had to toss up between No Movement while selecting things (really good for chases of course) or No Mouse Movement while selecting things. Naturally I thought it's much more useful to point yourself forward and then use your phone while running.

So far tools I'll be adding to the game is wireless lights and speakers which can be used to block, chase away and even potentially kill creatures in the dungeon. I'll also be adding the photos, music and notes apps which will mostly be used to tell the story of the dungeon. But can also work in conjunction with the wireless tools apps as traps.

The wireless scanning system will scan ANY object with scannable properties. This means not only can you set up traps but I can also add sneaky little hidden rooms and easter eggs only accessed via the app!

In Summary:
The Phone UI is the first feature to be added to Pre-Alpha Early Access V2.0

It's controlled by Arrow Keys, SpaceBar and Enter

There's unlimited potential in apps that you can find or use in the dungeon when it's added.

It will ALSO add the need for inventory management! I'm not yet  sure if I should add a Resident Evil Style "Safe Room" for you to download/delete/upload apps to a server or just have Players hit "Backspace" or "Delete" (twice) to delete the currently selected app.
