Major? Update 1


Hey Guests!

Today is the day for the next update! I'll be honest i've not had enough time to power through the programming as i've finally got a paying job (but that might mean i can pay for better visuals).

Updates!

  • PHONE UI
    • Displays torch battery life
    • Hold "Spacebar" to bring it up and use the "Arrow Keys" to select things on screen and hit "Enter" to click the selection
    • Houses "Photos", "Wireless Scanner", "Wireless Speaker App", and "Wireless Light App" (so far)
      • Wireless Scanner scans for connectable devices in the Absurdium! Atm these include "lights" and "speakers"
      • lights and speakers can be controlled from their respective apps. toggling lights and playing sounds on the speakers to attract or soothe enemies
      • Photos is a placeholder app for now that can be used to sort through Lore fragments so you or your character can go through their past and figure out what's happening
  • Loading Screen
    • We finally have a (primitive) loading screen in the main menu to tell you how close you are to starting up a game. I've realised that it's starting to lag on startup and i needed one eventually. Will add more to it when i get the chance but as of now it just shows a percentage till the game starts.
  • Speakers and Fairy Lights
    • These wireless devices are ready to be used as traps to stop, soothe or chase away enemies lurking in the maze.
    • Currently there's no way to pick up these items but I will add a hold item system so you can carry a (single) trap with you
    • Both are infinite as of now but I will add a system for battery life in the future
  • Ending Scene
    • If you manage to defeat your tormenter you will see a black screen with "ENDING[number of ending]" repeated in subtitles
    • Hopefully with money i can afford to get at least the models to form a formidable cutscene and have final scenes that reveal a fragment of the protagonists story

  • Guests
    • The Guests have a few sfx bug fixes
    • The Guests now run at you without stopping! You better get out of there
    • The Guests can now track you around walls, so no locking them!
  • Minor Tweaks
    • While running the game I noticed both the Paros and The Hungry spawns ALOT more then they should. So i've included a tweak so that The Hungry can not spawn early on in the game so you aren't accidentally spawn locked.
    • The Boss/Wraith/Ghost/Tormentor now can spawn any amount of times and you can now run away from them.
      There's a time+ level system that I won't reveal to you but just know that you don't have to fight them unprepared now
    • Subtitle Swarm fix has arrived. I can't tell if the bug was a recurring issue for players but their was a bug that looped Subtitles infinitely meaning that you were constantly getting bombarded with the same introduction messages!
    • DEBUG. If you hit "\" backslash your settings savedata will all be deleted this includes deathcount and graphics settings
      • This is intended to help me but for now it can also act as a way for you to REPEAT the TUTORIAL if you find yourself confused by game mechanics.
      • If you need to delete your collected scannables for any reason there is also a save file located in C:/user/appdata/locallow/bunnybytes/absurdium_groundwork called "PersistentData.txt" this file holds scans collected, deaths, rooms walked, time in the Absurdium. These all won't be deleted on "\" but deaths will be updated after you hit backslash.
